Vintage report
In 2024, a mild winter and a contrasting spring favored early bud break, despite a few episodes of frost. Spring and summer, marked by thunderstorms, heavy rains, and reduced sunshine, maintained high sanitary pressure. Despite these uncertainties, the vines were able to adapt and produce grapes that were sometimes uneven in ripeness but generally balanced. At Domaine Chanson, the harvest began on Wednesday, September 11 and ended on Saturday, September 21. It was a demanding and contrasting vintage, marked by significant climatic hazards, which required a great deal of work and skill on the part of the technical teams.

Vintage report
After a classic winter, spring settled down with warm temperatures but a cool weather in April slackened down the evolution of the vines. May was rainy and was followed by a warm summer with heat waves. However, a few thunderstorms episodes brought enough rain to allow the maturation of the grapes to continue. The harvest started early september with an excellent sanitary level of the grapes. Vinification : whole bunch fermentation for approximately two weeks, the wines are then aged in our XVth century cellar for a period between 14 and 18 months. Moderate use of new oak.

Terroir
On the southern hill of Beaune, a vineyard of 2 hectares, mid slope facing East.
Vintage report
After a cold, dry winter, spring arrived very quickly, with summer temperatures in April leading to exceptionally early growth. July was cooler and sometimes wet, slowing down this pace and allowing the vines to rebalance their cycle. August alternated between heat and rain, resulting in uneven ripening depending on the plot. The harvest began at the end of August, in dry and sunny weather, with overall satisfactory health conditions.
Tasting
Deep, brilliant ruby color. Complex nose combining notes of black cherry, blond tobacco, candied fruit, and a hint of spice reminiscent of cinnamon. On the palate, the attack is supple and harmonious, offering a beautiful balance between fruitiness and freshness. The tannins are fine, elegant, and perfectly integrated. Lingering finish marked by hints of cocoa and licorice.
Wine & food pairings
Roasted game birds (partridge, pheasant) and poultry with character (duck, guinea fowl). Mature soft cheeses (Brillat-Savarin, Soumaintrain).
